WayCap Recicloo - Coffee Capsules Recycling Tool

Used Nespresso® Original capsules are aluminium with wet coffee grounds sealed inside. Kerbside recycling can't take them in that state — the grounds contaminate the aluminium, so the whole capsule usually ends up in landfill. Recicloo splits the two apart in one press: aluminium into your recycling, grounds into the compost or the garden.

How it works

1. Drop a used capsule into the tool.
2. Press down. The lid pierces and lifts away from the capsule body.
3. Tip out the grounds, then separate the two streams.

Give the aluminium a quick rinse if the grounds are wet — most councils want it clean.

Nespresso® Original-format capsules, including those used in:

• KitchenAid Nespresso

It does not fit Nespresso® Vertuo capsules — different size, different shape. For those, use the REVU tool.

Working through a last batch?

Most people buy Recicloo when they have already decided to switch and still have single-use capsules to get through. Once those are gone the waste stops at the source — a reusable capsule is filled with your own coffee and washed out after each shot, so there is nothing to separate and nothing to send away.

If that is where you are heading, start with the Nespresso Original reusable capsules — SealPod, WayCap Ez and Bluecup — and Bespoke Blend, ground for pods.

Machine playing up as you switch?

Reusable capsules leave more coffee oil in the brew head than sealed capsules do, because the seal is not as tight. If your extraction has gone thin or slow, that is usually residue rather than a fault — Caffenu cleaning pods run through like a capsule and clear it.
